The Lafayette is an uberlight high-altitude expedition bag spacious enough to use in combination with the Combi suit. It has a front 1/3-length zipper allowing you to easily crawl in while wearing a down suit. This is also a great feature for sitting up in your tent, cooking, reading, and hanging out without getting completely out of your sleeping bag. The Lafayettes draft collar doesnt alter its shape when tightened, and its down waist drawcord and reinforced knee section maintain the bags differential cut, no matter how much you move in your sleep.
Like Valandrés other bags, it uses the tubular bell construction with pre-cut circular baffles filled with down from the famous French grey goose. This goose can migrate at 24,000 feet in temperatures as low as 60°F (-50°C) for days on end, and the down is harvested right before the traditional migration time when its fresh, clean and at its plumpest.
This lightweight bag is often used along with a down suit for speed climbing in the Himalaya. The Lafayette is an excellent choice for fast-and-light ascents.
